The last time, that I visited this museum was when the museum was at the rue des paradis in the tenth arrondissement of paris. Now, adjacent to the louvre and it's one of the museums with a collection covering the history of french advertising.

Smoking

 

 

The pressure group droit des non furmeurs inserted an advertisement in the 11 december issue of Direct Soir. The ad is illustrated with the photo of a boy smoking a stick of cigarette on the other end of the filter with this headline: non smokers are on the worst side of smoking. With this sign off message  there are 4000 chemical elements in a cigarette and 5o of these elements can cause the cancer. The advertisement is very simple and the message is penetrating.

A Great Ad

 

 

 

This full page ad, is bound to attract the attention of many readers because it has a Berlin wall background. The main photo shows a model with the advertised product, a Louis Vuitton bag, with the copy below, "Berlin wall, returning from a conference." Then there is this name"Mikhail Gorbachev" that closes the ad, directed exclusively to the audience of  statesmen and senior policy makers.

Ranking french advertising agencies

The major international agencies featured prominently in a ranking published in the current issue of Strategies,(n° 1436- of 30/11/06) the advertising business weekly magazine. The top agencies in the list are as follows:


-Publicis Group
-Havas
-Teleperformance(a big surprise)
-Ogilvy & Mather
-J.Walter Thompson(16th on the list)
-Young & Rubicam(35th place)


The first fifty agencies are mainly shops that provide international services and service international clients. The ranking carried out by the editors of strategies and cofaservices.fr was based on a list of questions submitted to the agencies. In no small way, the ranking confirmed the vibrancy of the french ad scene with the listing of numerous small agencies.

Advertisers and the new media

 

 

In discussions on the effectiveness of the new media(the internet) the issue of media fragmentation-especially the advent of recording devices, cable and satellite televisions are some of the reasons advanced against the global communication network.

 

But these reasons are quickly dismissed in favor of the following in support of the internet:

-real time feedback

-cost effectiveness

-wider and specialized audience
